Our Product Engineering team strives to build best in class products that solve real problems for our users.

A successful Head of Product Engineering will achieve this by understanding our users, advocating best in class engineering principles, coaching modern engineering practices and adopting solutions which expedite our ability to deliver value.

The Head of Product Engineering is accountable for their team achieving operational and strategic goals which enable the business to successfully execute its product strategy.

The person we’re looking for

– A proven leader with experience of working with B2B and B2C products — you’ve made critical decisions that have had broad, positive, and cascading impacts.

– Has 5 years or more experience in leadership roles where you’ve tested, learnt and developed your people management, coaching, and mentoring skills.

– Is able to build technical credibility with their team through sharing recent hands-on experiences and learnings.

– Evangelises the value of test automation, continuous integration / continuous deployment, infrastructure as code and observability as first-class citizens in software development.

– Has recently worked extensively with JavaScript / TypeScript or Python.

– Has recently worked extensively with at least one large scale Cloud Services provider from AWS (preferred), GCP and Azure.

–  Takes a personal interest in solution design and is able to meaningfully contribute to solution design alongside their team.

– Knows how to best use off the shelf Cloud services to create a fast-paced delivery environment.

– Has experience in creating, setting, and communicating strategy.

– Has excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a cross-functional leadership team. Able to communicate complicated decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders at a level of detail that is meaningful to them.

– Balances technical quality investments against customer value creation with an ability to consider both short and long term trade offs.

You’ll be responsible for

– Building and leading a connected product engineering team where collaboration amplifies individual ability and impact.

– Bringing relevant and current technical knowledge to decisions which guides the team, improves decisions and leads to better technology and user outcomes.

– Inspiring your team with a product oriented approach to engineering leadership.

– Identifying and integrating valuable industry best practices, processes and ways of working into the Product and Technology organisations.

– Designing and continuously evolving a department which is balanced and able to plan for and respond to business needs.

– Optimising and reviewing team performance, ensuring teams and individuals continually, and frequently deliver value with quality.

– Leading a high performance team, engaging and retaining top talent whilst identifying areas to improve through recruitment opportunities.

– Developing strong working partnerships with your organisational peers which foster high levels of collaboration and encourage constructive debate.

– Leading a department of 30 people, including line management for between 5-8 direct reports (a mix of individual contributors and people managers).
